Latin America. While it is true that Latin American television networks and producers are increasingly interested in generating transmedia content, most are just beginning. But they will have to speed up the process if they do not want to be left behind, as internet connectivity from mobile devices grows and will grow more and more.
According to the latest projections of the company Cisco, revealed in its annual Visual Networking Index study, by 2016 half of the world's population will be connected to the network, due to the increasing number of mobile devices (computers, tablets, Smartphone, smart TV) that have an internet connection.
In addition, projections suggest that there will be an increase in broadband speed, greater demand for online video, greater capacity of wireless networks and more connected users that will generate more traffic, reaching 1.3 zettabytes, through about 18,900 million connections, that is more than two per inhabitant.
Cisco also forecasts that by 2016 the number of users will reach 3.4 billion, and that broadband speed will go from nine megabytes per second currently to 35 megabytes per second within four years.
And on video, which directly affects the television industry, the report notes that for the forecast year it will be 1.2 million minutes of video generating internet traffic per second. In addition, it indicates that the number of high-definition televisions in homes will go from 64 million to 1.3 billion.
