The new Indigo AV is an extremely competitive switcher, providing broadcast functionality (including mixes, solutions, keys and 2D and 3D effects) at a competitive price for the professional market.
Grass Valley's new Indigo AV combines video, high-resolution video images and audio control into a single, compact unit. It accepts both digital and analog and standard definition video (SD/HD) inputs, as well as embedded sound inputs in SDI and DV streams and high-resolution computer inputs.
Indigo has an internal technology that allows you to work with inputs of various resolutions. Outputs are also available in multiple formats, including DVI and SDI for monitors, projectors, and digital recording. The functionality is comparable to that of a production switcher for broadcast since it has E-MEM memory effects, digital video effects (DVE), keyers that allow to have elements in several layers, color correction in each input and mixtures and dissolutions between any source, including high quality computer graphics created with programs such as PowerPoint, regardless of input resolution.
Complementing the video switcher is an audio mixer with motorized faders capable of mixing multiple audio resources with audio-follow-video (automatic audio fading to combine image selection) and automatic audio latency to compensate for video processing.
As part of the family's professional lineup, Indigo AV includes an interface designed for Grass Valley Turbo iDDR recorders and other equipment. The AMP automation protocol is built-in and features an open API to allow other automation systems to directly control Indigo.
To ensure a perfect presentation there are certain modes of operation that assist the operator, such as a Wizard Quick Start very easy to use for anyone familiar with a computer interface, even if you have never seen a switcher for broadcast production before.
The Indigo AV mixer will be available later this year at a price of between $11,900 and $14,900 in the United States.
