Thomson has positioned itself very strongly in the area of equipment for sports production. Recently, the French-born company announced the sale of switchers, cameras, routing systems, control systems and modular products worth €13 million to ESPN for its new HD production facility in Bristol, Connecticut.
The ESPN Digital Center, a production facility of more than 11,000 square meters, will provide more than 3,500 hours per year of high-definition programming for the ESPN HD channel.
Thomson products being installed on behalf of this business include a Kalypso HD video processor switcher from Grass Valley, a Trinix switcher-router for large-scale video routing, an Apex router for audio, LDK 6000 mk II HD multi-format cameras and Kamaleon modular products.
