One of the main novelties at NAB 2018 is the R&S TLU9, a rebroadcaster that allows to extend the coverage of the main transmitters (high and medium power stations) in specific topologies that cause shadow effects, such as. Steep valleys, no need to install an additional fully equipped transmitter station.

The configuration of many of today's emitters is complex. They only work well in certain reception scenarios, and are not able to process changing echo characteristics. The R&S TLU9 rebroadcaster has been designed to overcome all these limitations.

Broadcaster operators now have the optimal combination: excellent signal quality, high reliability and minimal operating costs. It is also the first re-emitter to offer R&S smartEC, an intelligent integrated echo compensation mechanism for self-configuration and automatic adaptation to changing echo characteristics.

With R&S smartEC, the R&S TLU9 retransmitter acquires the level of performance and characteristics of a low-power transmitter. It is capable of managing complex echo scenarios, significantly reduces MER degradation, offers auto-configuration functions, and autonomously adapts to changing echo characteristics. In short, it helps to save costs, since it is not necessary for an engineer to come regularly to manually reconfigure the echo compensation parameters on site.
