The new liquid-cooled R&S THU9evo high-power UHF transmitter represents the next step in reducing operating expenses to a minimum.
Rohde & Schwarz has the advantage of its long experience with Doherty technology, so the new transmitter offers even greater efficiency, reaching up to 40 percent for COFDM standards and up to 43 percent for ATSC. The result is a further reduction in energy consumption and, consequently, in operators' costs. The transmitter covers output powers from 1.5 kW to 96.5 kW for COFDM and from 1.65 kW to 106 kW for ATSC. With 17.4 kW (COFDM) and 19 kW (ATSC) per rack, it offers the highest power density on the market and thus facilitates enormous space savings.
The new R&S Efficiency Optimization function also allows operators to benefit from maximum energy savings in all application cases. This function is very useful in case of an adaptation of the output power or a change of channel: at the push of a button, or adaptively, an intelligent algorithm is responsible for optimizing the parameters of the amplifier to achieve the maximum energy efficiency of the transmitter. In this way, the operation of the system with the lowest consumption in any situation is guaranteed.
The new R&S PHU903 high-power amplifier is the key component in which the high efficiency of the system resides, and combines maximum efficiency with the possibility of using it throughout the UHF range like no other amplifier on the market. This is achieved thanks to R&S Multiband technology, whose development has once again been driven by Rohde & Schwarz. This technology perfectly equips operators for 700 MHz band release and channel reallocation.
