Omneon Video Networks announced that Turner Broadcasting System originated the transmission of its Latin American networks – TNT, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and TCM – from Omneon's newly installed Spectrum media server systems. Fourteen different contents in different languages are broadcast from the Spectrum system to bring these four networks to Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico and all of Latin America through pan-regional content.
Significant factors in Turner's purchase decision were the flexibility of the server system, the ease with which it can be expanded, and the reliability of its operation. With its modular and highly scalable design, Spectrum's media server system meets these Needs of Turner while managing the complex configuration of typical language options in multi-channel streaming. Its open architecture seamlessly interacts with Turner's Pro-Bel automation system, StorageTek automated data storage libraries, and Apple's Final Cut Pro non-linear editing workstations to enable efficient streaming, media management, storage and production.
Omneon's server system has the ability to dial and monitor audio, which makes media management more efficient and the broadcast of content in different languages more accurate. For TNT, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and TCM programming, any video clip can be associated with up to 20 different language tracks. During ingestion, operators can give names to all language tracks linked to specific content. The Omneon system accesses and then rolls the appropriate track at the same time with its corresponding video clip, on the correct channel. This process allows you to use fewer media versions, do less dubbing work, and gain greater flexibility in assigning language tracks to programming.
