On December 18, 2024, the [Federal Telecommunications Institute, IFT,](https://www.ift.org.mx/) approved the issuance of the spectrum tender call No. IFT-12. On January 2, 2025, the Institute received, from the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency, a request to cancel said Tender. In its request, the agency in charge of preparing and conducting the telecommunications and broadcasting policies of the Federal Government, stressed that the new agency would not have elements to continue it in the terms defined by the IFT. As a result of the deadlines set out in the calendar of activities of the bases of Tender No. IFT-12 that extend until the first quarter of 2026, it is likely that the discharge of some activities for the tender will correspond to a new authority, once this Institute has been extinguished. In view of this, and in order to safeguard the legal and regulatory certainty that must prevail in any bidding procedure, the Institute decided to cancel Tender No. IFT-12. The institute recalled that the bidding of different blocks of radio spectrum in bands such as 600 MHz, 2.5 GHz, and 800 MHz, as well as the L band, among others, susceptible to the provision of 5G services was provided for in the Annual Work Programs 2022 to 2024 of this regulatory body. These bands were included in the Annual Programs for the Use and Exploitation of Frequency Bands from 2020 to 2024, issued by the IFT, to be concessioned for commercial use through public bidding. - Publicidad - In addition, in an exercise of transparency and citizen participation, the Institute held two public consultations on the tender: an "integration consultation" that provided inputs for the preparation of the draft bases, held from January 9 to March 21, 2023; and another on the Bidding Bases, which took place from May 7 to July 1, 2024.
