Colombia. Guaguas y Borregos, a project presented by María de los Ángeles Ordoñez Bolaños, María De Los Ángeles Ordóñez Bolaños, Ángela Muriel, Maycol Flórez and Gabriela López, from the Universidad Mariana, was the winner of the CALA Awards for Best Audiovisual Piece.
The award-winning piece has demonstrated innovative storytelling, excellent technical execution and a unique ability to captivate audiences in an unforgettable audiovisual experience.
This is the culmination of a process that included intense deliberation and a thorough review of submissions received from future industry professionals and creatives. Choosing the winner has been a challenging task due to the exceptional level of competition.
In relation to this, Andrea Ochoa Restrepo, leader of the CALA Awards project emphasized: "The recognition of students' achievements not only strengthens their self-esteem and confidence, but also fosters an environment of motivation and excellence in the educational environment. When a student's hard work and accomplishments are publicly recognized, it provides them with a sense of validation and appreciation, which drives them to work harder and achieve higher academic achievement."
"In addition, public recognition also serves as an example for other students, inspiring them to pursue their goals and reach their full potential. Celebrating student successes strengthens the educational community and creates a sense of belonging and pride that drives personal growth and commitment to long-term learning."
Likewise, the Mariana University of Pasto stated: "We are proud to announce that our students of the Social Communication Program won the CALA Awarda Best AV Piece University Project with the short film "Guaguas y Borregos", in the category of best university audiovisual piece. Thank you for raising the name of the Marian University and demonstrating the quality of our academic training processes!"
The winner received an audiovisual production technical kit provided by the sponsors of the award: Sony, Vidiexco, Litepanels, Pinnacle Group and E-Image.
The winner was announced on October 26 at the IntegraTec Colombia fair, which was held in Bogota.
