Argentina. After its participation in the VHL Connect, Blackmagic Design was present at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism, FADU, of the University of Buenos Aires with a Master Class in which Tor Johansen, specialist products for cinematography and winner of 6 Emmy Awards, was presented to a large group of students of the Image and Sound Design career that filled Pavilion 3 of the house of studies.
Johansen – who is an associate member of the American Cinematography Society (ASC) and a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Los Angeles Motion Graphics (MGLA) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) – shared his knowledge with young students by making demos and shooting with cameras and demonstrating major resources such as the new RAW format, as well as the novelties of the color correction and video editing software DaVinci Resolve.
The specialist had already given his lecture "Cinematic: how to get the look" within the framework of the "VHL Connect", and had previously participated in the meetings held with the official distributors of the brand in Argentina and also with its end customers. These meetings also featured José Lobo, Account Manager Cinematography Specialist of BVS – Knowledge & Technology, and Rick Fernández, Managing Director of Axxion Consulting, a firm that represents Blackmagic Design in the Latin American market.
After the experience lived at the FADU, José Lobo said: "Blackmagic Design democratized production and without a doubt this type of event, where an expert of such a professional career as Tor Johansen arrives to provide a free master class for students of the Image and Sound Design career of the UBA, goes in that direction".
The executive concluded: "From VHL, we have not only proposed to promote this initiative but also plan to replicate it since it has enough potential to reach public and private universities throughout the country."
