Colombia. In 7 departments of the country and in coordination with the regional channels Telecaribe, Teleantioquia, Canal TRO, Telepacífico, Canal Capital and Teleislas, the Ministerio TIC installed during the month of December 4 thousand DTT kits for the reception of the open television signal in digital technology.
"For the Government of change it is of great importance to reach remote areas with digital television for all -DTT- in HD quality. Thanks to this, Colombians of strata 1 and 2 will be able to enjoy the audiovisual content of the national channels with better image and sound quality, all for free, "said the ICT Minister, Sandra Milena Urrutia Pérez.
Around 16,000 inhabitants of Valencia (Córdoba), Manaure and La Paz (Cesar), Cali (Valle del Cauca), Floridablanca (Santander), Chinácota and El Zulia (Norte de Santander), Puerto Berrío (Antioquia), San Andrés and Providencia (Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina) and Bogotá D.C, received free kits consisting of an external UHF antenna and a decoder with accessories that allow receiving the free-to-air television signal in high definition.
Parallel to the installation of elements for the reception of the digital signal, the Ministerio TIC advanced a process of pedagogy through regional channels on the use and appropriation of DTT aimed at migration and technological substitution in homes.
During 2023, the Ministry will continue to support the processes of technological updating of low-income users for the reception of open digital television with the installation of DTT kits in populations with less access to television service.
