ARRI introduced new Orbiter projection optics

arri orbiter

Latin America. ARRI presented two Orbiter projection optics of 25° and 35°. Combined with Spectra, ARRI's Orbiter light engine, the world-class optical system provides a state-of-the-art LED profiler perfect for theatres and cinematic applications as well as broadcast studios or live productions.

Orbiter projection optics provide unmatched precision in every detail and make it possible to project a spot of light as well as gobo projection and precise shutter cuts. The light field is uniform and without chromatic aberration. The projection has no visible hot spots or drops at the edge, and the depth of field is striking. Both optics have a standard iris slot.

The four manually adjustable shutter blades of the 25° and 35° projection optics produce a beam of light where the cut of the shutter sheet and the edge of the light beam adjust the focus. Both optics have motorized focus adjustment that allows great precision and reproducibility.
With the latest update of the Lighting Operating System for Orbiter LiOS2 the focus can be controlled, either locally through the Orbiter Control Panel, or remotely by DMX/RDM or IP-based (ArtNet or sACN). Once set, the focus stays in place and will not be altered when the lens tube is fixed in place.

A standard metal or glass size B gobo can also be added.
The original ARRI gobo holder is made to hold the gobo fixed in place and the pattern that produces the gobo is clearly visible. It is hardly necessary to adjust the focus between the gobo and the shutter; and adjusting the focus between the gobo and open gate is, directly, unnecessary. Other ARRI accessories such as snoot tubes or colored filter holders can be added to the front, allowing adjustment when needed. Orbiter Projection Optics are an excellent addition to Orbiter's existing range of 15-65° Fresnel lenses.

Both projection optics are small in size: the 25° measures 287 mm x 287 mm x 331 mm (11.3" x 11.3" x 13.1") and the 35° measures 287 mm x 287 mm x
284 mm (11.3" x 11.3" x 11.2"). The 25° weighs 5.45 kg (12 lbs) and the
the 35° weighs 4.35 kg (9.6 lbs).

The Orbiter's fast mount system (QLM) allows the projection optics to be mounted quickly and safely while maintaining their rotation capacity at 90°. The LiOS2 update ensures the automatic recognition of this new optic and its latest feature, the Automatic Adjustment (Optics Auto Adjust) that offers 100% color stability with any focus and any optical. The optic fan can be controlled via the Orbiter's Light control function from the control panel.

Both Orbiter projection optics will be available in black in October 2022.
