Latin America. ARRI announces the addition of the Fresnel lens for Orbiter to the vast array of Orbiter optics, making this state-of-the-art LED luminaire even more versatile.
In combination with Spectra, the Orbiter's light engine, this world-class optical system is perfectly suited for cinematic applications and broadcast studios as well as theatres and live productions. The Fresnel Orbiter lens is an important addition to Orbiter's existing 15°, 30° and 60° Open Face optics.
By creating a precise light spot with a single soft shadow, the Orbiter's new Fresnel lens offers true Fresnel light output with a real Gaussian light field. The light output of the Orbiter with Fresnel lens is comparable to the L-10 luminaires of the L-Series ARRI and True Blue ST2/3 with its 2000 W tungsten lamp.
The Fresnel type of lighting works best with a large aperture and a wide zoom range. Despite its large aperture, the Orbiter's Fresnel lens housing is compact (approx. 340 mm x 380 mm x 370 mm / 13.4 in x 15" x 14.6") and lightweight (~4.5 kg / 9.5 lbs.). Its lens diameter of 285 mm (11.2") equals that of the True Blue ST2/3 and T5. Its large zoom range of 15 to 65° fully motorized can be positioned precisely while being controlled either locally via the Orbiter Control Panel or remotely via IP-based DMX/DRM (ArtNet or sACN).
Equipped with a high-resolution display, LED status and encoder, the Orbiter's Fresnel lens offers easily accessible information. The backlight of the display is adjustable and status and zoom angle information is available through the metadata for maintenance and post-production tasks.
The Orbiter's unique Quick Mount System (QLM) allows the Orbiter's Fresnel lens to mount safely and quickly. ARRI accessories such as 4- and 8-blade visors can be added to the Orbiter's new Fresnel lens to allow for a perfect cut. Physical gels can also be used in addition to the more than 300 pre-programmed gels available for Orbiter.
The Fresnel Orbiter lens will be available in black.
