Panama. A simulated blackout of the analog signal, which will serve as preparation and measurement for the implementation of the open television signal in the provinces of Colón, Panama and Panama Oeste, announced the National Authority of Public Services, ASEP.
This drill, which has the support of local television stations in Panama and will be held during the Wednesdays of May 2022, seeks to prepare users for the digital signal and the benefits that Panamanians are already receiving in image and sound.
The roadmap includes the realization of four drills that will begin in the month of May, the first of them being on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. In addition, the update of a dissemination plan to position the activity is included.
Users will experience a simulation of analog or traditional signal shutdown. During this period, messages alluding to the preparations for the total shutdown of the analog signal in the aforementioned places will be broadcast on the screens.
It was also reported that the time set for the blackout drill will be two minutes at 8:00 p.m.
The ASEP seeks that the people who reside in the provinces of the first phase (Panama, Panama West and Colón) become familiar by the time the total transition to the digital signal is announced.
The digital age is related to the modernization of analog television signals. Viewers will be able to obtain the digital signal through a TV that has the dvb-T digital tuner integrated or with a DVB-T set-top box that must be connected to an antenna to capture the open signal.
