ARRI is expanding its range of accessories for the Orbiter LED luminaire with the introduction of the Orbiter Docking Ring, and the new Orbiter Bag-o-Light, Orbiter Glass Cover and Orbiter Dome Mini. The anchor ring and the other three innovative tools extend the flexibility of the Orbiter, making this advanced LED luminaire even more versatile.
Orbiter Docking Ring: integrates third-party optics with ease
The anchor ring for Orbiter is an accessory enhancement that further expands the toolbox of lighting designers and cinematographers. With its Fast Mount Lighting System (QLM) and a large number of different optical lighting fixtures from ARRI, the Orbiter has already become one of the most versatile luminaires in the industry. By allowing the Orbiter to accept different third-party optics with other industry standards, the new Docking Ring expands the device's application possibilities.
This new accessory gives new life to equipment that is already being used. Since the Docking Ring allows the Orbiter to be compatible with equipment from other manufacturers, it helps minimize new investments. The optical design of the Orbiter Docking Ring increases the operation of tools that already have more time in aspects such as output, optical performance and homogeneity. Now, users will be able to add to the Orbiter the optics they already own as an alternative to ARRI optics while continuing to benefit from the quality and power of ARRI lighting. A manageable investment that will have a big impact in terms of additional versatility.
The adapter plugs effortlessly and without any additional tools into any Orbiter's Quick Mount System (QLM). The luminaire recognizes the Docking Ring automatically and the light output is also automatically adjusted for optimal performance. Third-party optics can be attached easily and quickly without the need for any tool. Thanks to the quiet built-in automatic fan, the use of third-party opticians is also safe.
This tool allows the coupling of a wide variety of compatible optics from various manufacturers including projection optics, Fresnel and Cyc-optics -up to a maximum weight of 7.9 kg / 17.4 lbs-. The Docking Ring itself is lightweight (~1 kg / 2.2 lbs.) and very compact (246 mm x 225 mm x 86 mm / 9.7" x 8.9" x 3.4"), making it easy to carry. The Docking Ring is available in black. It is only necessary for attaching third-party optics and is not required for OPTICS and ARRI accessories.
The Orbiter Docking Ring gives rental homes the great possibility of offering even more diversity to their customers. Also, theaters, productions, photographers and many other users will be able to test a first-line lighting engine while benefiting from this innovation since they can now use the tunable LED device with a wide range of optics that are already being used, in addition to the ARRI optics.
Orbiter Bag-o-Light: beautiful soft light for close-ups
Creating soft, pleasant and almost shadow-free lighting is now also possible with the Orbiter Bag-o-Light. This accessory, with the appearance of a large tube, can be attached to the Orbiter's 15° Open Face optic and is a great tool for close-up applications in the film and photographic industry. When inflated this accessory reaches a length of 2 meters and a diameter of 22 cm and weighs less than 0.86 kg / 1.89 lbs. Transform the light output of the 15° Open Face ARRI optical in the Orbiter, into a beautiful soft light.
Orbiter glass cover: unrestricted light output when needed
The Orbiter Glass Cover is a small optical accessory, compact and lightweight. With its ultra-translucent glass, the glass cover allows unrestricted light output, without affecting temperature or color quality. It is ideal for applications at short distances with little available space where a lot of light is needed. The QLM, already incorporated into the Orbiter, allows you to mount the optics effortlessly. In addition, the glass cover simultaneously protects the Orbiter's light engine and can be used instead of the transport protection cover.
Orbiter Dome Mini: compact yet powerful for intimate environments
The Orbiter Dome Mini delivers high-quality omnidirectional light at high intensity. Compared to the optical Dome, the Dome Mini is a compact version and therefore smaller and lighter. This highly translucent material keeps the loss of light output to a minimum, compared to fabric domes, usually larger in size. The light it produces is great for applications at short distances with limited available space. The QLM on the Orbiter allows for quick and easy docking of the Dome Mini.
