Latin America. Blackmagic Design released Blackmagic Camera 7.7, a new update that further improves sensor performance on the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K model by leveraging the unique technology of this component and adjusting the chromatic interpolation algorithm to achieve a more natural color balance and greater sharpness in shadow details, in order to optimize the quality of the images.
Also, this update offers a more precise starting point for the chromatic balance, in order to obtain better skin tones and in turn retain the slight attenuation of the luminous areas that users enjoy so much in this camera. On the other hand, the incidence of the muaré pattern has been reduced when recording scenes in UHD with architectural textures or high-frequency fabrics.
"The images have that creamy yet defined cinematic appearance, which is so pleasing, with precise details in both the darkest and brightest areas. There are no artifacts, which is very important in my work," said Christian Sebaldt (ASC), during the beta testing. "Plus, skin tones always look natural, and these are features of a $40,000 camera."
This model revolutionizes digital cinematography with a Super 35 sensor (12,288 x 6480) and a 14-step dynamic range built into the award-winning camera design. With 80 megapixels per frame, a new colorimetry and the flexibility of the Blackmagic RAW codec, working in 12K resolution is now a reality. The oversampling process in 12K resolution delivers the best images in 8K and 4K, with subtle skin tones and extraordinary details worthy of high-end cameras. It is also possible to shoot at 60 f/s in 12K, 120 f/s in 8K and up to 240 f/s in 4K (Super 16). On the other hand, this model has an interchangeable PL mount, integrated neutral density filters, two slots for CFast and SD UHS-II cards, and a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port. In addition, it includes DaVinci Resolve Studio, in order to achieve creative control during all phases of post-production, from editing and color grading to visual effects.
The URSA Mini Pro 12K model offers such a sublime resolution that it far exceeds the traditional parameters of the film industry, since it offers the advantages of filming on tape, with incredible details, wide dynamic range and vivid and intense colors. This camera is perfect for feature films, TV series and content in IMAX format. It also offers excellent definition around objects, making it ideal for working with green backgrounds and visual effects, including live compositions and computer graphics.
