Colombia. The Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies issued the administrative acts declaring the viability of the proposals submitted by various communities, for the first allocation in the history of the country of concessions of community broadcasters with an ethnic focus.
There are 14 organized communities that were enabled in the Final Evaluation Report resulting from Call 1 of 2020, in which 116 proposals were received from 96 municipalities in 24 departments, which demonstrates the high impact and degree of participation that this project had.
It is the first time that an objective selection process related to community stations is especially aimed at indigenous, black, Afro-descendant, Raizales, Palenqueras and Rrom communities, demonstrating the work and interest of the ICT Ministry in promoting education, information, cultural appropriation through radio, as well as the right to information.
It is important that the communities that have obtained a viability know the steps to follow and the requirements that they must comply with from now on, in accordance with the current regulations for the sound broadcasting service, in order to obtain the concession for the provision of this important service.
