Covid-19 forced channels and production companies in Latin America to suspend the recording and production of novels, series and films, causing these programs, which were even already on the air, to be replaced by live programs or content already broadcast, at a time when the audience has grown significantly.
Fortunately, the countries of the region have begun to establish biosecurity and sanitary protocols to allow the reactivation of recordings. The first of these was Mexico and the most recent was Argentina. These protocols contain recommendations and step-by-step measures to decrease the risk of contracting the disease on set.
It is highlighted that in the elaboration of these protocols for the reactivation of audiovisual production, different actors in the industry have been linked and adhered to. In Argentina alone, more than 20 associations of actors, technicians, producers, channels and unions have participated.
For their part, Colombia and Chile are holding competitions for the delivery of economic resources to support audiovisual productions. The Ict Ministry of Colombia has already awarded 83 projects in 5 competitions, while Chile will announce them in October.
Undoubtedly, despite the difficult situation of the previous months, the industry begins to reactivate and we hope that it will soon recover the dynamics it had before the pandemic.
