Facebook, a tool for streaming

Stream professionally just by having a cloud tool.

By: Erick Vilaró

Live Producer is Facebook's latest innovation so partners can stream professionally without using high-value equipment like switchers, encoders, link systems and more.

This tool allows to meet the needs of Facebook Live filmmakers with various types of interface ranging from one input signal to four, and if desired, different default canvases can be selected to incorporate the signals.

Similarly, the platform also allows you to create 100 percent personalized formats and incorporate video and audio embedded in SDI and HDMI through additional cards such as BlackMagic that are connected to the computer. HLS and RTMP from other encoders are allowed in Facebook's tool for broadcasters.

Facebook's Live Producer also allows you to integrate independent audio into the system, texts, photographs, videos and, most interestingly, allows you to send requests for remote connections via cell phone, with which invited people can participate in the transmission using the cameras and microphones of their mobile devices.

Main features of the tool:
Formats: You can select full screen of a signal, split screen of two cameras or PIP boxes, and customize the framing format with up to 4 simultaneous inputs.

Audio: accepts to incorporate several signals, handle the decibels, gains and choose the indicated one, as required.

Scenes: It allows you to "record" the configuration of the inputs that you want to program for the transmission, giving order to the sequences for the distribution of Facebook Live.

Distribution: It supports sending the live signal in groups, profiles and Facebook pages, which can additionally improve traffic when performing CrossPosting with other pages. It also optimizes SEO positioning by creating the event prior to the broadcast when entering facebook.com/live/create.

Bandwidth: The stability of the application starts with 10Mb of download and 5Mb of upload, but it is recommended to use dedicated channels of minimum 10Mb one by one.

Remote connections: Connections with mobile devices for use as remote cameras are made with dedicated channels and Wifi on cell phones for better stability. This option also allows you to incorporate HLS and RTMP from other encoders to incorporate 24/7 signals such as those from TV channels.

www.facebook.com/live/producer is currently a tool only for Facebook partners, such as media and some other companies with high demand for live broadcasts per day and high number of followers, in agreement with the partners manager of the region.

Finally, this version enters to compete in the live broadcast market where other tools that migrate to the virtual terrain are also present, such as Vimeo Livestream, which is paid; YouTube Live, free for Partners and Periscope Producer also free but with prior acceptance of the administrators of the platform.

The success of live broadcasts is in the niche
Today one of the favorite means for live streaming is based on Facebook code that helps position the pages on the social network, however, additional must be taken into account when making a Live: audio, lighting, camera framing, internet bandwidth and, above all, keep in mind the audiences that will be reached with the live broadcast.

The above refers to the fact that it is key to pay attention to the message, the title, the time of streaming and communication with these audiences always answering the questions, thanking and informing of the next live broadcasts.

Developing audiences and building communities is what guarantees you succeed in streaming traffic. Everything is born and developed from a good programming, production and organization; identifying possible improvements in each Facebook Live so that users last longer connected.

"Testing this initial version of the platform I found good stability in the connection system vs the transmission resolution, which can be selected between 360p and 720p, but all settings are cleared when closing the Facebook page."
