In 2014 TV Y VIDEO celebrates 20 years bringing to the Latin American television industry the best information on technology and trends. In addition to being a great satisfaction for the entire work team of the magazine, it is also a challenge and a commitment so that edition after edition we are better.
There are several challenges that this year has the television industry in the region. We continue to yearn for digital television, as we are a short time away from the deadlines set in each country for the analog blackout. Unfortunately, not in the whole region the process is progressing at the same pace and even in some countries the process seems paralyzed.
The World Cup is another big challenge for the industry. When held in Brazil, all channels in the region will have special broadcasts that will require a large technical and human deployment.
But, sports competitions of this type have also become a space to test new technologies on television. In South Africa 2010 the 3D transmission was tested. This year will not be the exception, since TV Globo in the company of some manufacturers will test the live transmission of 4K signals in some of the World Cup matches.
And precisely 4K will be one of the technologies on which we will have to be very attentive to monitor its development and implementation, as well as what is related to video on demand and transmedia and crossmedia content, among many others.
Of these and more issues we will be pending in TV AND VIDEO, to disseminate the advances in a timely manner. I await your comments on this exciting industry in [email protected]
