Avid Technology announced that acquired Sundance Digital, Inc. for approximately $12 millions in cash. Sundance based on the area of Dallas, Texas- is a leading developer of programs for automation and control of devices for servers of video transmission, tape transport, graphics systems and other equipment for broadcast stations.
The acquisition strengthens Avid's position among broadcasters as provider of digital systems to produce, manage, control and play TV programming.
For more than a decade, Sundance Digital is committed to developing technologies state-of-the-art for automation and control of a wide range of playback devices, which has allowed the broadcasters operate more efficiently and offer broadcasts of high quality and error-free, Chas Smith said, vice president and general manager of the video division of Avid. Sundance has built a successful business with a family of open solutions that interoperate with the main traffic and production systems of many companies. We plan to maintain this distinctive advantage as we explore other opportunities to extend automation capabilities, that Sundance already offers in our own streaming products. With Sundace systems in our portfolio, Avid will offer wider and more specific production flows for broadcasters, related to media acquisition, production and transmission.
Robert C. Johnson, President of Sundance Digital, Sundance said, and Avid share a vision common: helping broadcasters transition into the world of fully digital production. Our systems today used by many customers- they are the perfect complement to the new Avid authoring tools. With the systems of Sundance, Avid will offer greater control over the entire process of media production and, in addition, it will give broadcasters the possibility of running your productions more precisely and agility.
